Queen Anne's Room
This room was used by Queen Anne when she visited the Estate in 1708 to garner support for the War of Spanish Succession. The Country Tories led by Henry St. John (later Viscount Bolingbroke) did what they could to obstruct the workings of Parliament as they objected to war finance and high taxation. The large bed that you see was specially constructed for the visit and decorated with embroidery that reflected her protestant tastes.
